The first Beaconsfield Heritage Evening was a huge success. Ours doors were open to hundreds of members of the school community. Everyone from current students, parents, neighbours and new Syrian refugees were welcomed by a warm display of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Canadian hospitality.
Visitors were treated to impressive displays of student work that ranged from detailed grade 7 trench projects, to elaborate grade 8 heritage fair displays, and colourful grade 9 quilt and poster artwork.
The atmosphere was festive with live traditional music performed by some of our talented student musicians, and bellies were full after a scoff of everything from fresh homemade bread, pea soup, and baked beans to fish and brewis, moose stew and lassie buns. To top it off, appetites were satisfied by a cup of hot tea and some fine Purity Factory treats.
With such a great turnout and school community support, we hope to make this an annual event. See you next year.
